MENTAL ASSENT VS FAITH

 Is Jesus just Lord or Jesus is YOUR LORD?

A lot of believers are in a state of mental assent and not Faith. Mental assent is a communal agreement without a heart conviction. (Saying the word because everyone is saying it, is not Faith, It’s mental assent!) Let me ask - Do you agree with the Word and make use of it in your day to day life (Faith) or do you just agree with the Word without putting it to work (Mental assent)? I am sure many would say - Yes, Yomi I have Faith not just mental assent. But the question is when life happens - Do you make use of that word you know or you suddenly have amnesia? “The same with Rahab, the Jericho harlot. Wasn’t her action in hiding God’s spies and helping them escape—that seamless unity of BELIEVING and DOING —what counted with God? The very moment you separate body and spirit, you end up with a corpse. Separate faith and works and you get the same thing: a corpse.” James‬ ‭2‬:‭25‬-‭26‬ ‭ Fam, until you mix Faith with the Word you agree with, it’s just mental assent! Hebrews 4:2 Here’s a little example of my mental assent - I know the Word says the power of life and death is in the tongue. (James 3:10) Recently, I realized I’ve been unconsciously saying “wahala” (which means problem) when I want to joke around or exclaim. The Holy Spirit has been nudging my heart to stop, because, Yo! The truth is I know the word in James 3:10 and I agree with (mental assent) but I have not put it to use (Faith). Apply the WORD FAM! Be sincere, is it mental assent you have or faith?
